Stress is a Killer!
You could likely include yourself in the 90% of my patients who come in looking to deal with the effects of too much stress. Most of my stressed out patients come in complaining of the following:
- Poor Sleep
- Crippling Anxiety
- Extra Weight Gain
- Lack of Motivation
- Exhausting Fatigue
- Overwhelmed Body
- Upset Stomach and Terrible Digestion
The unfortunate part is that we live in a society and in a time where busy-ness is the absolute norm and we’re often pushed beyond the limits of where our bodies and emotions would like to live. This is why 90% of my practice is stressed out people!
The other half of the equation is that because we’re expected to be so busy and get so much done each day, many people (maybe including yourself!) feel guilty about taking down time or vacations, or may even feel like it’s impossible to put a pause on your to-do list.Job/Home/Life Demands + Guilt about downtime = miserable conditions! Because of the way that I see patient health affected, I’m an ABSOLUTE advocate of taking a vacation, or even a stay-cation, every 90 days.
Schedule in Your Breaks
This means that 4 times per year, you should schedule in a break. And this break should be scheduled in BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. That way, no matter what comes up, you know that in 90 days time, you’ll have a bit of a reprieve from whatever craziness you’ve got going on.
Now don’t feel like each vacation has got to be one where you spend $10-15,000 each time—it can simply be taking an extra long, long weekend for example, but you MUST focus on rejuvenation, relaxation and down time. Another idea is that if you have hobbies that you love to do but don’t seem to get enough time to do them, these breaks every 90 days can be a great time to add those in to your regular schedule!
Truly, the goal is to help you cope with your crazy busy and possibly overwhelming life so that burnout doesn’t become your constant reality.
I also want to mention some big news…
Retreats are listed as #4 on this year’s list of Health and Wellness Trends for 2017, and I’m REALLY excited to announce that this year I’m working on putting together an incredible international retreat. The location and details are in the process of being determined, but definitely keep your eyes peeled for future updates.
Retreats are an incredible way to take some time for yourself to relax and be surrounded by lush jungles and bathe in the warm sun of pristine beaches.
Eventually I will likely offer retreats every 90 days to help all of my patients like you to reset and rejuvenate so you can manage through all life throws at you.
