Normal versus common is a discussion I have a lot in my practice with patients. There are SO many things where something may be common, but that definitely does not mean that it’s normal.
This is hugely the case with many hormonal symptoms that we see a lot in women (but men too!).
We’ve definitely been sold a false bill of goods by being taught that so much of what we go through hormone wise is expected and simply something to put up with and bandaid versus actually sort out!
Here are some examples of COMMON hormonal issues that AREN’T normal!
- PMS and Mood Swings
- Breast Tenderness
- Heavy Bleeding
- Irregular Periods
- Hot Flashes and Night Sweats
- Brain Fog
- Anxiety related to your cycle
- Ovulation Pain
- Spotting between cycles
- Low-Normal Testosterone Levels in Men
Now the big question is, “WHY are these common issues coming up in YOUR body?”
It’s often due to hormonal imbalances that CAN be corrected. That’s right, YOU DON’T NEED TO SUFFER ANYMORE!
The struggle is that there are definitely a variety of reasons you may be dealing with these symptoms, but we need to figure out the “why” so we can get you feeling better.
Stress is a HUGE factor and can mess with so much in the body and can really negatively impact hormone balance too.
Endocrine disruptors and many toxicants are also a HUGE reason for why I continue to see both men and women struggle with hormonal imbalance in my practice. Toxicants like BPA, phthalates and organophosphate pesticides are only a few examples of chemicals that can mimic hormones, bind or block receptors and interfere with our natural body hormone levels.
Lack of good quality sleep is another huge issue for so many people. When your body is exhausted, it’s trying its best to minimally function and this often means that systems like reproduction get put on the back burner.
There are so many other reasons that hormones can be a mess, and that’s what we can figure out together.
I don’t want any more women or men thinking that just because a symptom they’ve got is common that there’s nothing they can do about it.
